Key Points for Water Meter Installation
1. Before installation, the pipes should be flushed to remove sediment to prevent clogging the water meter;
2. The water flow direction of the water meter must be clearly identified to prevent incorrect installation;
3. During installation, the length of the straight pipe at the inlet end of the water meter should not be less than 10 times the diameter of the water meter, and the length of the straight pipe at the outlet end should not be less than 5 times the diameter of the water meter; (For example: for a 15mm water meter, the length of the straight pipe at the inlet end is 15 x 10 = 150mm)
4. The installation location should avoid corrosive environments and areas with poor drainage;
5. A check valve should be installed after the water meter to prevent backflow of water in the pipes behind the meter, which could damage the water meter or contaminate the water supply network.
6. Consideration should also be given to installing expansion joints and filters; a suitable location for the water meter should be chosen, a meter well should be constructed, and sufficient space should be reserved for maintenance, ensuring protection against freezing and flooding;
7. The water meter should not be subjected to excessive stress caused by pipes and fittings after installation;
8. After the water meter is installed, the seal should be applied promptly;
Smart water meters have electronic control circuits and data acquisition circuits added to ordinary mechanical meters, so they should be protected from moisture and water immersion. During installation, consider whether the water meter is above ground. It is strictly prohibited to place the water meter in an underground meter well. The meter well should also be able to drain and ventilate, keeping the well dry.
